CFL Week 16 Betting Predictions

Sports Betting Canadian Mascot FootballWe’re really getting down to the end of the of the CFL season and I seem to be intent on keeping my .500 record with my CFL picks on the season.  In week 15 I hit the Stamps and Lions, but was off on the Eskimos and Alouettes.  That brings my season record to 27-27-1, but hopefully I can break into the plus .500 range after this week.

I’ll be using SportsInteraction.com for my CFL picks all season long.  They’re our top rated sportsbook and you can check out our full SIA review here.

Saskatchewan Roughriders @ Ottawa Redblacks

  • Saskatchewan Roughriders BettingSaskatchewan +7
  • Ottawa -7

It might seem crazy, but the Riders are actually playing some solid football of late.  They won their last two games, which were against the Eskimos and Ti-Cats and now they’re coming off a bye week so they will be very prepared to face this Ottawa team on the road.  The Riders are out of the playoff picture, but that doesn’t mean they will let up at all in this game.

Add in the fact that the Redblacks are only 2-3-1 at home this season and are just 2-4-1 against Western teams and you have to think that taking the points is the smart play here.  I think the Riders have a legitimate shot at winning this game and a great shot at keeping the game close at the very least.

Play: Roughriders +7

BC Lions @ Winnipeg Blue Bombers

  • Winnipeg Blue BombersBC +1.5
  • Winnipeg -1.5

Yes, the Bombers have lost two games in a row, but two weeks ago it was a very tight battle in Calgary against the best team in the league and then this past week was a let down spot at home against the Eskimos.  I expect them to regain their composure this week in a big game against the Lions.  This will likely be a preview of a divisional playoff game and home field advantage in that game is still very much up for grabs.  The Lions have been playing some good football, but I expect the Bombers to have a big bounce back week and get the job done at home.

Play: Blue Bombers -1.5

Edmonton Eskimos @ Montreal Alouettes

  • Montreal AlouettesEdmonton -3
  • Montreal +3

This is a battle between two teams that are playing some good football in order to try to get in the backdoor to the playoffs this season.  The Alouettes destroyed the Argos at home this past week and the offense really seemed to be ticking under Rakeem Cato, who threw 4 touchdowns in the game and looks to really have some good chemistry with Kenny Stafford.  If Cato can have another big game I expect the Alouettes to have a good shot in this game against the Eskies.

Yes, Edmonton is on a good tear of their own, winning their past two games against tough competition, but I think this could be a let down spot for the Eskimos against a Montreal team that is actually playing some solid football.

Play: Alouettes +3

Calgary Stampeders @ Toronto Argonauts

  • Calgary StampedersCalgary -9
  • Toronto +9

The Stamps just keep on covering outrageous spreads and this week they’re once again massive favourites even though they’re on the road.  Last week they beat the Ti-Cats by 19 and being on the road really doesn’t seem to affect this high powered offense too much.  Add in the fact that the Argos are only 2-5 at home this season and have lost three in a row to much weaker Eastern Division competition and you have to think the Stamps will cover this weekend.

Play: Stampeders -9
