The sports betting industry is now regulated by iGaming Ontario, and Ontario residents have the option to place bets through many licensed operators. With the new regulations and increased marketing, sports betting has grown significantly in popularity in Ontario over recent years, and I expect sports betting to continue to be more ingrained in Ontario culture.

Below I will outline our recommended betting sites for Barrie residents, look at the offline betting options available near Barrie, and provide a simple three step guide you can follow to place bets at our top rated licensed sportsbook for Ontario residents.

Offline Sports Betting in Barrie

Offline sports betting is available in Barrie through Proline, which is the government run sports lottery.

Proline was the only form of regulated sports betting available in Ontario for many years. Unfortunately, Proline offers significantly worse odds than you will find at any of the licensed sportsbooks we recommend above, which is why it’s considered a “sports lottery” rather than a legitimate sports betting option.

The antiquated Proline form of sports betting is still relatively popular in Ontario, but I advise Barrie residents interested in betting on sports to do so through a licensed online sportsbook that offers fair odds (like the ones listed above), rather than paying the significantly higher juice through the offline Proline sports lottery.

There are two casinos located within a short drive from Barrie, but neither of these casinos offers sports betting.

Casino Rama

Casino Rama is located just outside of Orillia, which is a half-hour drive north-east of Barrie. Casino Rama is arguably the most popular casino in Ontario. The gaming floor features 47 table games, 6 poker tables, and 1800 slot and electronic games.

Casino Rama does not currently have a sportsbook or any sports betting kiosks.

Gateway Casinos Innisfil

Gateway Casinos Innisfil is located just south of Barrie. This casino features over 22 table games and over 1000 slot machines. Similar to Casino Rama, Gateway Casinos Innisfil does not offer sports betting.

Sports Teams in Barrie

  • Barrie Colts (OHL)

The GTA is within driving distance for Barrie residents interested in watching pro sporting events live in person. The drive from Barrie to Toronto is 1 to 1.5 hours depending on your starting point and destination.

  • Toronto Argonauts (CFL)
  • Toronto Blue Jays (MLB)
  • Toronto Maple Leafs (NHL)
  • Toronto Raptors (NBA)
  • Toronto FC (MLS)
  • Toronto Rock (NLL)
