Last week my QB plays were fairly average. My favourite play was Carson Palmer who was way under priced at $5300. He ended up with 18.56 DK points, which was fine for his salary, but another 11 passing yards would have had him reach the 300 point bonus, which definitely would have helped. Carr was another play I had who had a fairly average week, while my third pick of Russ Wilson did not pan out with the Seahawks having trouble moving the ball.
This week I am absolutely in love with a few stacking options, including one that may be a little overlooked.
I also have a running back targets article up that you should check out.
Drew Brees ($7600) + Willie Snead ($5100)
Brees is the most expensive QB on the slate this week and rightfully so. The guy is basically a lock for 300+ passing yards at 2 TD’s every time he plays at home. Even in week 10 against the Broncos, who most would agree are the best D in the league, Brees threw for 303 yards and 3 TD’s. He’s only not hit the 300 yards mark at home once this year and that was against the Seahawks.
This week against the Lions I think it’s almost guaranteed. The Lions D has impressed me of late, but they are still 28th in the league against opposing QB’s and Brees should be able to keep adding points the board.
My favourite stack option for Brees is Willie Snead. He will have the best matchup of the 3 big Saints wide receivers and likely won’t see any of Darius Slay all day. He’s also the biggest discount of the 3 top Saints receivers, which is great when you are stacking a guy with an expensive QB.
A double stack is possible here with both Michael Thomas and Brandin Cooks with the ability for a big day. Not to mention Coby Fleener. Lots of options for Brees stacks in this game.
Matt Stafford ($7000) + Marvin Jones Jr. ($4400)
That brings us to the other half of this likely shootout game in New Orleans. Matt Stafford hasn’t had a big DK week since week 6 at home against the Rams, but that’s because he has really had to. The Lions have won 6 of their last 7 and Stafford has played exceptionally well doing exactly what is needed to get the wins. This week I expect more of the same, the difference being the Lions are going to have to score a lot of points to win this game. Stafford will get back to his gun slinger mentality in this game to keep pace with Brees in a game I’m very excited about.
My favourite stack with Stafford in this spot is Marvin Jones Jr. He’s still extremely cheap at $4,400, which is entirely too cheap in this spot. He has just as good a shot for a big game as Golden Tate and if Stafford continues to look at him like he did last week (11 targets) I think it’s inevitable that Jones gets a TD and likely 100+ yards as well.
That said, with the Lions there are plenty of stackable options including Tate, Boldin, Riddick and even Ebron.
Matt Barkley ($5000) + Marquess Wilson ($4000)
If you watched last weeks Bear game you will have came away very impressed with both Matt Barkley and receiver Marquess Wilson. Barkley (25.64 DK points) was very confident in the pocket against the Titans and Wilson was getting open with ease (29.5 DK points). It’s always scary chasing points, but these two are in another great spot at home against the 49ers. I like this play even better due to how well Colin Kaepernick has played lately. I actually think the 49ers will be able to score against the Bears quite a bit this week, which will force the Bears to put the ball in Barkley’s hands and let him move the ball. This is also a very cheap stack, which allows you to go after some other high priced guys.
I also like using Cameron Meredith ($4100) as a stack option. He had a rough week 12 with only 2 catches on 9 targets, but he was getting open and I don’t expect as many drops moving forward.
