Group H Winner Odds

  • Colombia 2.37
  • Poland 2.85
  • Senegal 5.50
  • Japan 10.00

Poland is a team I think could surprise some people in Russia.  They easily won their UEFA qualifying group that included Denmark and Romania with an 8-1-1 record, while scoring 28 goals in those matches.  They also put together a very solid Euro 2016 campaign, falling in penalties to the eventual champions Portugal in the quarterfinals.  This is a solid generation of Poland soccer players and Lewandowski has the ability to score in bunches in this tournament.

I expect Poland to get wins over both Senegal and Japan, and then it would just take a good performance in their match against Colombia to win this group.  I think either Colombia or Poland could end up atop Group H, but based on the odds the sharp money has to be on Poland.

Play: Poland 2.85

Other Group H Bets

It was hard for me to find another bet I liked from this group, so you can consider this play more of a lean.

I do not see Japan winning a match in this tournament, and I think they would have to in order to hit the over on this total.  At the 2014 World Cup, Japan finished with only 1 point in a similar group that included Colombia, Greece and Ivory Coast.  I would argue that Poland is better than Greece and Senegal is better than Ivory Coast this time around, so the chances of Japan winning a match are very slim in my opinion.

Both Colombia and Poland should get wins over Japan, but even if Japan pulls out a draw in one of those matches, they would still need to beat Senegal to hit the over on this bet, and they will be the underdog in that match as well.

Play: Japan Under 2.5 Points 2.20
