DraftKings is running a special “Wishbone Classic” contest this Thursday for the American Thanksgiving games. The contest is a $20 entry contest similar to the weekly Millionaire Maker contest, but there is $2,000,000 guaranteed. I will actually be surprised if this contest fills, so it could be great value.
Also, check out my American Thanksgiving NFL spread betting picks post. I’m looking to go 3 for 3 with my bets this Thursday.
QB – Matthew Stafford ($5,800)
The running game in Detroit has not been working this year and I’m expecting Stafford to have to throw the ball a lot this Thursday. The Eagles give up the most fantasy points in the league to wide receivers and Stafford happens to have one of the best 1-2 wide receiver punches in the league with Calvin Johnson and Golden Tate. I’m expecting these two to be involved an awful lot and it’s definitely possible for a big game passing from Stafford in a good spot here.
WR – Calvin Johnson ($7,200) & Golden Tate ($4,700)
As I mentioned in the Stafford section, the Eagles defense is worst in the league against opposing wide receivers. Johnson has been consistently getting into the mid-teens in fantasy points this year, but he’s having a hard time breaking the 100 yards mark, with only one 100+ yard game this year. I think he does it again this week against a very weak Eagles defense.
In fact, I think both Calvin and Tate are able to break the 100 yard mark receiving. Add in a touchdown each and they’re both great plays this Thursday.
RB – Darren McFadden ($5,500)
My favourite running back this Thursday is Darren McFadden at $5,500. McFadden had 29 carries on Sunday and he’s proven to be a work horse running back this year. He’s putting up solid DK points without even finding the end zone in the past 4 weeks. That is a concern, but he’s still easily paying off his salary without getting touchdowns, so if he does he could absolutely smash. The Cowboys are only 1 point dogs in this game and if they can keep it close I expect them to use McFadden a ton.
TE – Greg Olsen ($6,200)
I’m willing to pay up at tight end in this small slate. Cam Newton has to throw to someone and Olsen has proven to be his most reliable target to this point in the season.
If you want to pay down Brent Celek at $3,200 is a decent option. He had 7 catches for 79 yards on Sunday and there is a history of him being one of Mark Sanchez’s preferred targets back when Sanchez was the regular QB.
DST – Green Bay Packers ($3,100)
If Alshon Jeffery doesn’t go once again that really hurts the Bears offense. The Packers should be up in this game, which will force Jay Cutler to start slinging out passes. This could result in some interceptions going the other way, especially if Alshon doesn’t play.
