NHL Betting Picks January 7th

It’s a nice slate of NHL games tonight.  I’ll be doing a lot of channel surfing to catch some NHL action, while I watch the Lions vs Seahawks Wild Card game.  I haven’t been posting many NHL picks of late, but I have been doing quite well with my NHL betting, so hopefully that continues tonight now that I’m actually writing an article with predictions.

I will be using the odds from whichever one of our recommended betting sites has the best odds for the outcome I expect.

Minnesota Wild @ Los Angeles Kings

I was concerned that the Wild would take their foot off the gas after dropping their game to the Blue Jackets a couple games ago in a battle of the winning streaks, but they bounced right back with a big win in San Jose on Thursday night.  This Wild teams is just playing so great that I think they have to be the favourite tonight even on the road.  The Kings were just shut out by the Red Wings on Thursday and have not been playing great going 2-3-1 over their past six games.  Add in the fact that they had to travel back across the USA after a single game road trip in Detroit and I’m not convinced we will see the best version of the Kings tonight either.

I will pretty much take the Wild as an underdog against almost anyone at this point in the season.

Play: Wild 2.10

Boston Bruins @ Florida Panthers

Yes, the Panthers played last night with a 2-1 win over Nashville, but I don’t expect that to affect them too much in this game with Boston.  The Bruins have not played well of late having lost two straight  to the Devils and Oilers.

I still believe in this Panthers team to make a run at some point in the season and in order to do that they need to win games like this over the Bruins.  I think Reimer is a very capable back up and if he plays I don’t think the Panthers all of a sudden become a worse team.

I like the Panthers in this one because I think they should be favourites at home.

Play: Panthers 2.15

I’m sticking with just those two plays tonight.  In both situations I think I’m getting who I feel is the better team as an underdog against a slumping opponent.  I will take those bets all day long.
