The French Open takes place in Paris in the coming weeks and it will be the final major of the tennis season after being postponed from it’s originally scheduled time at the end of May – beginning of June. There are some great storylines with Novak Djokovic looking to bounce back from his disqualification at the US Open, while Rafa Nadal looks to add another French Open title to his resume.
As a Canadian tennis fan I’m excited about this tournament. Denis Shapovalov has been playing some of the best tennis of his career and Felix Auger Aliassime has the ability to play his best on clay courts. And let’s not forget about Milos Raonic or Vasek Pospisil, who had a great run at the US Open. On the women’s side, Bianca Andreescu will not be in the field while she’s still nursing an injury, but Genie Bouchard earned a wildcard into the main draw, while Leylah Fernandez will look to continue to climb the rankings.
On this page I will recommend my favourite sportsbook for Canadians looking to bet on the French Open, take a look at the odds for some of the favourites in both the Men’s and Women’s tournaments, and finish up by providing a simple 3 step guide to help you get your French Open bets placed online.

French Open Winner Odds
Let’s take a look at the odds for Men’s and Women’s singles. The below screenshots were taken from Sports Interaction on September 22nd. The odds will change leading up to and throughout the tournament. To see the current odds head over to SportsInteraction.com, open the ‘Tennis’ drop down menu and click either ‘Mens French Open’ or ‘Womens French Open’. You may have to scroll past the matches to find the futures odds.
Nadal is the favourite to win his 13th French Open title. He’s won the event for the last three seasons and he looks to be playing at an elite level even though he went out in the quarterfinals of last weeks Masters event. Djokovic is also playing elite tennis having won last weeks event and having not lost a match in 2020, outside of his DQ from the US Open last month. He’s the best player in the world, but he’s the rightful second favourite considering Nadal’s success at this tournament. Dominic Thiem is the third favourite. He won the US Open last month and his best surface is clay so he’s a definite threat to win back to back majors.
The women’s tournament is much more wide open. Simona Halep is the favourite at odds of 3.73, but I still think this is anyone’s tournament to win. Serena at 11.37 really jumps out. She’s continuing to put herself in great positions to win that elusive 24th Grand Slam, but she hasn’t been able to convert in the last several tournaments. Naomi Osaka pulling out of the tournament with injury opens it up even more, even though she hasn’t had success here in the past.
You can see that Leylah Fernandez and Eugenie Bouchard both just made it onto the screenshot, but I don’t see either one winning the tournament.
