The French Open takes place in Paris in the coming weeks and this second major of the season will be very interesting, especially considering the quality of play from both Nadal and Djokovic on the men’s side coming into the tourney.
As a Canadian tennis fan I have mixed feelings heading into this tournament. Milos Raonic has been forced to withdraw from the tournament due to a lingering knee injury. That said, Dennis Shapovalov has emerged as a true contender on the men’s tour over the past couple years, while 18 year old Felix Auger-Aliassime has exploded onto the scene this year and actually holds Canada’s best chance on the Men’s side on clay. Shapovalov is ranked #23 in the world, while Auger-Aliassime has jumped up to #28 in the world, so it’s safe to say Canadian tennis is in great hands. On the women’s side 18 year old, Bianca Andreescu has also emerged as one of the top women’s players in the world, currently ranked #22 on the women’s tour, but with the ability to beat anyone on the WTA Tour.
On this page I will recommend my favourite sportsbook for Canadians looking to bet on the French Open, take a look at the odds for some of the favourites in both the Men’s and Women’s tournaments, and finish up by providing a simple 3 step guide to help you get your French Open bets placed online.

French Open Winner Odds
Let’s take a look at the odds for Men’s and Women’s singles. The below screenshots were taken from Sports Interaction on May 25th. The odds will change leading up to and throughout the tournament. To see the current odds head over to SportsInteraction.com, open the ‘Tennis’ drop down menu and click either ‘Mens French Open’ or ‘Womens French Open’. You may have to scroll past the matches to find the futures odds.
Nadal is the favourite to win his 12th French Open title. He’s 25-5 this season and is coming off a win at the Italy Masters tournament a week ago, so his game is in the right place. That said, Djokovic is also playing elite level tennis, and both Thiem and Tsisipas have beaten Nadal during this clay court season. I do think Nadal will win the tournament because his half of the draw is fairly wide open for him.
The women’s tournament is much more wide open. Serena at 11.00 really jumps out, but she’s had a lot of trouble with her knee injury this year, pulling out of both her most recent tournaments after one match due to the injury. That said, she has a straight forward road to the third round and the extra time between matches in the Grand Slam events could allow her to ease into the tournament. If she’s able to hold up physically she is still the best player in the women’s game in my opinion. At these odds I’d take a shot on her.
I don’t mind Andreescu either at 38.00. The Canadian hasn’t played since her injury at the Miami Open, but she was nearly unbeatable for a few weeks before that injury and if she’s able to regain that form quickly she is going to be a tough out.
