I didn’t have the best week 13 with my CFL picks going 1-3 against the spread last weekend. The Stampeders winning by 12 when the spread was 11.5 was particularly hard to swallow. That weekend brings me to 18-17 for my CFL picks this season, so with the juice I’m basically breaking even on the CFL so far this year.
I’m again using SportsInteraction.com for my CFL bets this week, so the spreads below are from SIA. Click here for our full Sports Interaction review.
****CONTEST**** There was no winner in the CFL spread contest that I run at the Sports Betting Canadian Facebook page last week. Let’s try to change that this time around. Calgary Stampeders @ Winnipeg Jets
- Calgary -10
- Winnipeg +10
This is a tough spot. I think the spread is dead on in this game. The Blue Bombers will be better returning home though and the Stamps have not been great on the road this season (2-3-0). I don’t expect the Blue Bombers to get blown out at home, so I’m going to go with Winnipeg in this one.
Play: Blue Bombers +10
BC Lions @ Edmonton Eskimos
- BC +11
- Edmonton -11
The Eskimos and Stamps are by far the best two teams in the West Division, but I still have trouble taking the favourite when the spread is this large. The margin of error is so small when you’re taking the favourites here. I expect the Eskimos to win and I think a 10 point spread would have been perfect here, but I’m leaning towards the Lions with that extra point.
Play: Lions +11
Toronto Argonauts @ Ottawa Redblacks
- Toronto +2.5
- Ottawa -2.5
The Redblacks are for real. They’ve now strung together 3 straight wins and they’re 4-1 at home on the season. The Argos are trending in the other direction having lost 3 games straight.
That said, the Redblacks won their games over the Roughriders (twice) and the Lions, while the Argos lost to the Tiger-Cats (twice) and the Eskimos. Pretty much the opposite ends of the CFL standings. Add in the fact that the Argos are coming off a bye-week and I think Toronto should be able to bring a great game plan to TD Place. I’ll take the few points and take the well rested team who has to be chopping at the bit to get a win.
Play: Argonauts +2.5
Montreal Alouettes @ Saskatchewan Roughriders
- Montreal -1.5
- Saskatchewan +1.5
It boggles my mind that week after week the Roughriders are still considered a decent CFL team. Last week they were two point favourites over the Redblacks in a game they ended up losing. This week they are only 1.5 point dogs against the Alouettes. The Roughriders are 1-11 on the season. I get that they have been able to keep a lot of those losses close, which is evident by their -76 point differential, which is really not bad when compared to their record. But they still lose all of these games and in order for them to win this bet they would have to lose by only 1 point. I’m all over the Alouettes here.
Play: Alouettes -1.5
