UFC 252: Cormier vs Miocic Betting Picks

The UFC is back in Vegas for the month with UFC 252 taking place at the UFC Apex. Daniel Cormier and Stipe Miocic will headline the card completing their trilogy with the UFC heavyweight belt once again on the line. The main card also features Sean O’Malley in his third fight since March. He’s taking another step forward fighting Chito Vera in the co-main spot, in what is sure to be a must-see fight.

I have three plays for the card below. I will be using the best odds available at any of our top rated betting sites for Canadians.

Daniel Cormier vs Stipe Miocic

This Cormier vs Miocic trilogy fight is close to a pick’em. I favour Daniel Cormier in this spot. He earned an early knockout in their first fight and was winning a striking battle in the second fight before gassing and subsequently being knocked out in the fourth round.

I think Cormier will come into this fight more prepared in terms of cardio, and I also think he will mix in his wrestling more, which was an underutilized skill from the previous fight.

I see Cormier with far more paths to victory in this fight and I fully expect Daniel Cormier will be able to retire as the UFC heavyweight champ.

John Dodson vs Merab Dvalishvili

John Dodson is one of the toughest outs in the UFC bantamweight division. He’s a veteran fighter who is not the most active, but he throws with the intent to end fights. This was proven in his most recent UFC fight, which was a round 3 knockout of Nathaniel Wood after being slightly outworked in the first two rounds.

Dvalashvili has impressed during his current four fight win streak, scoring a ton of takedowns in those fights, but the fact that he’s unable to hold his opponents down is concerning. Dodson is a step up in competition for Dvalashvili and he also has more power in his hands than Dvalishvili’s previous opponents which should force Merab to be more careful when going for takedowns.

Dodson is a step up in competition for Merab, and I think he has the ability to finish this fight in a moments notice. I line this fight closer to a pick’em, which is why I’m happy to take Dodson +155.

Play: Dodson 2.55

Ion Cutelaba vs Magomed Ankalaev

Cutelaba will get his rematch with Magomed Ankalaev at UFC 252. In their first fight Cutelaba pretended to be hurt on the feet and the referee stopped the fight prematurely. Cutelaba closed at odds of around 2.50 for that last fight, and I didn’t see anything that would lead me to believe those odds weren’t accurate the last time around.

Cutelaba does not mind taking damage to land his own strikes, and he wasn’t given the opportunity to do that in the last fight. He’s a dangerous fighter himself and I actually think he took Ankalaev’s best shots in their last fight without truly being hurt.

At these odds I’m happy to roll the dice on Cutelaba who has the aggression and ability to finish almost everyone in the light heavyweight division, including Magomed Ankalaev.

Play: Cutelaba 3.65
