2019 Stanley Cup Finals Betting Pick + How To Bet Guide

The Blues got the job done against an injury depleted Sharks team last night to secure their spot in the Stanley Cup Finals against the Boston Bruins. These two teams were the second (Blues) and third (Bruins) best teams in the second half of the season (Lightning were first), so it should not come as a surprise that they maintained their level of play and advanced to the finals.

On this page I will give my betting pick for the 2019 Stanley Cup Finals and provide a simple 3 step guide you can follow to get your bets placed on the series or individual games.

Boston Bruins (2) vs St. Louis Blues (3)

  • Bruins 1.61
  • Blues 2.45

The Blues are significant underdogs heading into the Stanley Cup Finals against the Bruins. I guess it’s to be expected considering the Bruins have home ice advantage and are riding a 7 game winning streak into the finals, winning every game since being down 2-1 to the Blue Jackets in round 2.

That said, the Blues have also upped their game, winning 3 straight since being down 2-1 to the Sharks this past round, and shutting the door in those games, allowing just 2 goals to the Sharks high powered offense across those three wins.

Both teams are as healthy as you can hope to be after three rounds of the playoffs and I expect this series to be a back and forth affair that comes down to a few bounces.

Let’s not forget that the Blues had 61 points in the second half of the season, which was only 1 behind the Lightning, and was enough to bring them from last place in the league into a playoff position, which they’ve parlayed into a Cup Finals appearance. This Blues team is not overachieving in these playoffs. They’ve played at this high level for half of a season and always had the personnel to be successful. The Bruins secured 57 points in the second half of the season, so they’ve also been playing at a high level for a long time this year.

I think goaltending is a wash with both Rask and Binnington playing exceptionally well. I give the Bruins a slight edge at forward and the Blues the slight edge on the back end. Overall though, I think these are two terrific teams who have been playing great hockey for a long time.

I will side with the Blues based on the odds. I think this should be closer to a pick’em. There have also been 4 sweeps these playoffs, with the sweeping team going a combined 2-12 in the following series. I don’t think that’s a stat that should factor into your pick, but it’s interesting nonetheless.

Play: Blues 2.45
