NHL Betting Tips March 2nd

We’ve got a nice ten game slate tonight with most teams getting in their first action since yesterday’s trade deadline.  Many teams will have slightly different lineups heading into tonight’s game with the players that changed hands at the deadline getting their first chance to impress with their new team.

I have a couple dog plays that I really like tonight.  I will be using the best odds I can find from any of our top rated sportsbooks for Canadians.  Here’s the list of bookies I’m choosing from for the odds:

Arizona Coyotes @ Buffalo Sabres

Here’s a couple teams who are far outside of the playoffs looking in.  The Sabres have lost 4 in a row heading into this game and have really been playing some sub par hockey, which has basically put them out of the playoff race at this point in the season.  The team gave up 18 goals in this span and even threw in losses in Colorado and Arizona to show just how bad they’ve been playing.

The Sabres are up against the Coyotes again tonight and I can’t see them pulling themselves out of this rut with the knowledge that their playoff hopes are basically gone.  The Coyotes have known for a while that they won’t be in the playoffs and they’ve actually seemed to embrace this fact playing some of their better hockey of the season over the past month.

Sports Interaction has the odds at 2.75 for the Coyotes, while the best I’ve seen anywhere else online is 2.60.  This is a great value play, especially at SIA, which often gives Canadians some extra value on these big dogs in the NHL.

Play: Coyotes 2.75 @ SportsInteraction.com

Nashville Predators @ Montreal Canadiens

Yes, the Habs have won 3 games in a row and seem to be out of their funk, but I’m not so sure.  First of all, they’ve won every one of these games in overtime and were extremely lucky to come back against the Devils on Monday.  They are still finding it very difficult to score and I don’t expect that to change all of a sudden based on the players they picked up at the deadline.

If the Habs can’t score tonight they are in big trouble against the Preds who have been scoring at will of late.  The Preds are on a 4 game winning streak and have scored 19 goals over this span and 5 goals in each of their past 3 games.  The Preds are firing on all cylinders and regardless of if Price stands on his head I expect Nashville to pot at least 3 tonight.

I don’t think the Habs will be able to keep up.  They’ve won 3 very close games in a row and now everyone thinks they’re out of the woods and playing well.  I’m not so sure and tonight could be a big wake up call.

Play: Predators 2.15 @ SportsInteraction.com
