We have a fairly quiet slate of 6 NHL games for a Thursday, but I really like a couple plays so I had to pull the trigger and get this article up for you guys. Both the plays are fairly big dogs, but I think the first game is a coin flip, while the second dog has a much better chance at the win than the odds are indicating.
I will be using the odds from whichever one of our recommended betting sites has the best odds for the outcome I expect.

New York Islanders @ Montreal Canadiens
Yes, the Habs were able to end their 3 game losing streak with a shootout win on the road against the Rangers on Tuesday, but this Canadiens team is still struggling to score goals and if it wasn’t for a few huge saves from Carey Price in that Rangers game the Habs would be facing a 4 game losing streak as they host the Islanders. The Habs have only scored 5 goals in their last 4 games. They did beat the Coyotes 5-4 before those last 4 games, but even before that they lost 4 in a row, while only scoring 3 goals in that span. Montreal simply cannot find any offense and they cannot rely on Price to bail them out every game.
The Islanders are coming into the game rolling fairly nicely with a couple wins in a row and Greiss has been playing some very solid hockey.
I actually favour the Islanders in this spot, so I’ll take this bet at these odds all day long.

Arizona Coyotes @ Chicago Blackhawks
Based on the odds the bookies are only giving the Coyotes about a 28% chance at winning this game. I give them closer to a 40% chance. The Coyotes are coming off a big 3-2 win against the Ducks on Monday and have actually won 4 of their last 6 games. They are playing some solid hockey and finding the back of the net, which has been a problem for them this season.
Chicago is playing great, but this is a let down spot for them. The Blackhawks are returning from a two game road trip where they beat the Sabres and Wild, and returning home I think they could overlook this Arizona team.
At these odds I like Arizona to pull off the upset.
Play: Coyotes 3.45 @ SportsInteraction.com
If you bet on NHL then you really should have an account at Sports Interaction. They almost always have the best odds available for big dogs in NHL games. The odds for both of my picks above are significantly better than any of my other recommended sportsbooks, and also better than betting sites who pride themselves on providing the absolute best odds such as Pinnacle. Check out my full SIA review here. They’re our top rated sportsbook for a reason.
