NFL Week 2 Spread Betting Picks 2018

We were very close to a 3-0 record in week 1, but a couple late scores by the Browns and no TD’s in overtime hurt our Steelers pick and the 49ers settled for a field goal instead of a TD late so keep the spread at 8 points.  The Chiefs did their job though with a big win over the Chargers as the underdogs.  After all of that I’m 1-2 to start the season.

I will be using SportsInteraction.com for all of the spreads and picks below.  You can see our full SIA review here.  I have 2 picks this week.

Los Angeles Chargers @ Buffalo Bills

  • Los Angeles -7.5
  • Buffalo +7.5

The Bills were absolutely destroyed last week in Baltimore.  The defense couldn’t get a stop and the offense couldn’t move the ball.  It was an embarrassing start to the season where nothing went right.

That said, the Bills had their backs against the wall right out of the gate, which is not the way this Bills team can succeed.  The Bills rely on LeSean McCoy to move the ball and when you get down early it takes the running game out of the game plan.  Nathan Peterman couldn’t move the ball through the air and the result was an embarrassing loss.  The offensive line for the Bills is not strong, but I’m still not convinced they won’t be able to move the ball on the ground this week at home.  Josh Allen is in at QB and the players seem to be excited for the rookie QB to be leading this team with McCoy saying he wants to make it easy on the rookie QB this week and that if he had to draft a QB it would be Allen.  The Bills will be looking to bounce back in front of their home fans to show them they won’t be an embarrassment this year.

The Chargers have a strong team, but they have been very inconsistent in recent years and often lose games they should run away with.  I’m not convinced this team is any different.  The Chiefs lit them up last week and although Rivers and Allen still had strong games, I’m not completely sold on this team as a whole.

The Bills will look to keep this game close and establish a running game.  I think they will be able to keep this game close and even if they lose it shouldn’t be by more than at TD.

I will take most home teams +7.5 in this league.  And when it’s the Bills who went 6-2 at home last season hosting an average team, then I will take the points all day long.

Play: Bills +7.5

Kansas City Chiefs @ Pittsburgh Steelers

  • Kansas City +4
  • Pittsburgh -4

Patrick Mahomes looks to be the real deal.  This Chiefs offense has so many weapons with Hill, Hunt and Kelce that it’s the perfect fit for a flashy QB like Mahomes.  The team put up 38 points on the road against the Chargers last week and I think they will continue to impress in Pittsburgh.

James Conner may have looked good last week against the Browns, but he’s no Le’Veon Bell and this is the type of game where his absence will hurt the team.  The Chiefs are a high powered offense and a solid defense.

I like the Chiefs to tear it up to start the season just like last year, but to avoid hitting a wall this time around and to become one of the Super Bowl favourites by seasons end.

Play: Chiefs +4
