I’ve taken a few days off from making picks after a rough Friday evening going 0-3. Tonight there are plenty of games to choose from though, so I’m looking to get back in the win column with some strategic plays.
NHL Season Record: 57-75 for -5.60 units.
Ottawa Senators @ Dallas Stars
With Tyler Seguin and Jamie Benn both questionable for tonight’s game against the Sens I like Ottawa as underdogs here. The Stars depend a ton on Seguin and Benn to provide their teams offense and their depth after their top two lines isn’t the best in the league. Robin Lehner is in goal for the Sens, which isn’t ideal for my bet on Ottawa, but I think he should be able to be steady enough to keep the puck out, especially if these stars do not play.
There is still a good chance both of these guys play and if that’s the case I’m still not totally upset with the odds I’m getting on Ottawa.

Detroit Red Wings @ Buffalo Sabres
The Sabres have lost 7 straight games and their offense has gone back to being almost non-existent with them only scoring 8 goals in these 7 games combined. Tonight the Red Wings head to town and Detroit has been very average of late, but average is far better than Sabres awfulness. I’m going to be placing two bets on this game in order to take both the puck line and the money line.
Mrazek is in goal for the Red Wings, but he has been good so far this season with a 5-3-1 record and just a 2.29 GAA.
Colorado Avalanche @ Carolina Hurricanes
The Avs lost a tough one in Washington last night, but this youthful team should still be ready to go tonight. This is a big game for an Avs team looking to get into the playoff picture in the West. They’ve been playing better of late and I’m expecting a strong outing as underdogs against a Hurricanes team that is playing better than they were earlier in the season, but is still a below average squad.

Florida Panthers @ Winnipeg Jets
The Panthers are playing some very good hockey of late. They are riding a 3 game winning streak through Western Canada and are looking to make the Western Canada road trip a sweep. I think they will do this because I think the Jets are overachieving this year. I like the Panthers as small dogs in this one.
