Free NHL Picks February 27th

Sport Betting Canadian Hockey MascotWe went backwards last night with the Flyers and Canucks both losing very winnable games.  I’ll try to turn this around tonight and get to the winning ways that have us almost to breaking even on the season after a very rough January.

NHL Free Picks Record: 80-98-1 for -3.12 units.

***Before I get to the picks I wanted to give you a quick update on the paid NHL picks service I run through NHLBettingTips.com.  I’ve talked about it on here a lot.  The picks I add here are my free plays, while I send out my best plays of the day to Members.

We are now +5.99 units on since the launch.

This is after a horrible launch week (Jan 27th-Feb 2nd) that saw us sitting at -8.75 units after week 1. By sticking to the process and believing in our handicapping abilities we turned it around and since that awful week we are +14.74.

You can check out all of our past paid picks from the season in a Google Docs spreadsheet by clicking here.

Now, on to today’s free play.

Colorado Avalanche @ Dallas Stars

Avalanche BettingThe Stars are in shambles ever since losing Tyler Seguin to injury.  Their playoff hopes have gone down the tubes and they’re back to giving up outrageous amounts of goals each game (allowed 22 goals against in their last 4 games).  Even with this horrible stretch the Stars are favourites against Colorado tonight.  The Avs have actually been playing decently well of late winning 4 of their last 6, with their only losses coming to the Kings and Predators, who are the two hottest teams in the league.  The Avs have been finding the back of the net as well, which is why I’m going with another puck line play here tonight.  I like taking the puck line on underdogs, because as we saw from the Senators (-1.5) pick a couple nights ago the payoff can be very big and there is value when it’s a game you think will have a good amount of scoring one way or the other.

Play: Avalanche (-1.5) 4.18 @ PinnacleSports.com

A win here puts us into the positives heading into the weekend.

**Also, I’m away at a hockey tournament this weekend so I likely won’t be getting any free plays up over the next couple days.
