Cincinnati Masters Quarterfinals Odds and Picks

Sports Betting Canadian Tennis MascotThe matches are starting fairly soon so I’m going to keep this post quick.  There are 8 men left in the Cincinnati Masters singles draw and each of the quarterfinals matches are being played today.

Stan Wawrinka vs Julien Benneteau

Wawrinka really showed the top of his game in the round of 16 after he dropped the first set against Cilic.  He came back and absolutely dominated for the rest of the match, only dropping 1 game.  When Wawrinka is on his game he truly is one of the best in the world.  I expect Benneteau to be out of his league in this one.  He’s played well to reach the quarters, but he didn’t beat any top players and I don’t expect that to start here.

Play: Wawrinka 1.29

Milos Raonic vs Fabio Fognini

I watched the third set of Raonic’s match yesterday and I have never seen him tighten up so much when serving for the match.  Raonic hit 3 double faults in that game and lost the break, which allowed the set to eventually be pulled back to a tie break.  You could tell Raonic was still not fully comfortable after that horrible game, but he was able to find a way to win and that’s what top players can do.  Raonic has been playing fairly well, but he can go to another level.  Milos beat Fabio fairly easily last year on a hard court and I expect more of the same today.

Play: Raonic 1.24

Tommy Robredo vs David Ferrer

Robredo showcased the top of his game by defeating Novak Djokovic yesterday.  Last week Tsonga went on to win in Toronto after being the man to dismiss the top player in the world.  I don’t expect Robredo to go that far, but I do like him to beat David Ferrer today.  Ferrer has had trouble in the last couple of tournaments and he’s just not that great on hard courts.  I like Robredo’s form right now and expect a minor upset in this one.

Play: Robredo 2.44

Andy Murray vs Roger Federer

I’m surprised that this is a pick’em match according to the oddsmakers.  Andy Murray just hasn’t been great this year, while Federer has seen a resurgence.  Sure he’s dropped a set in his first two matches, but Pospisil and Monfils are both playing some very good tennis at the moment and I still like Federer’s game right now.  Andy Murray was almost out last match when he staved off a match point against John Isner.  Federer has won the only match between these two this year and I expect him to add another one.

Play: Federer 1.95
