CFL Week 9 Betting Picks

Last week all four of my CFL picks came through for a perfect 4-0 sweep. The Argos won their first game of the season as 14.5 point underdogs, the Roughriders covered the spread at home, the Redblacks won in Montreal as dogs, and the Stampeders also won as 1 point dogs vs the Eskimos.

I’m now 10-6 on the season and will look to add more wins this week. I will be using the odds from SportsInteraction.com for my CFL picks throughout the season. They are our top rated betting site for Canadians and they have actually partnered with several CFL teams. Check out our full SIA review here.

Calgary Stampeders vs Winnipeg Blue Bombers

  • Calgary +8.5
  • Winnipeg -8.5

Nick Arbuckle has shown to be a very capable backup quarterback, performing well in his win last week over the Edmonton Eskimos. Even with that win the defending champions are still big underdogs this week in Winnipeg.

The Blue Bombers gave up a big lead and gave the Argos their first win in Toronto last week. They will be looking to bounce back, but this is a tough spot for them. Calgary has not overwhelmed opponents like they have in previous seasons, but they are 5-2, which shows they know how to win games.

I’ll take the defending champs +8.5 against anyone, even with a backup QB.

Play: Stampeders +8.5

Saskatchewan Roughriders @ Montreal Alouettes

  • Saskatchewan -2
  • Montreal +2

Vernon Adams Jr. was injured in last weeks game, and if the Montreal starting QB can’t go, that’s a huge blow to this Alouettes team. I think this spread would be accurate if he was ready to go at 100%, but he’s a question mark, so I think the smart money has to take the Riders -2.

Saskatchewan got another big win last week against the Ti-Cats, and have now won three straight out of their week 5 bye.

I’ve been backing Saskatchewan all season long, and I’m not going to stop this week.

Play: Roughriders -2

Ottawa Redblacks @ Edmonton Eskimos

  • Ottawa +9
  • Edmonton -9

The Redblacks got Dominique Davis back from injury last week, but he was ineffective and was bailed out by DeVonte Dedmon going for two return TD’s. I still think Davis is the rightful starter for the Redblacks and I could see him bouncing back this week against a stingy Edmonton defense.

Edmonton is a solid team, but I still think they are overrated by the oddsmakers. Give me the 9 points and the Redblacks in this one.

Play: Redblacks +9

BC Lions @ Hamilton Tiger-Cats

  • BC +13.5
  • Hamilton -13.5

The Lions are coming off a bye week, but at 1-6 their season is already over. The Lions have absolutely no defense, as evidence by giving up an average of 34.4 points per game this season.

I’m expecting the Ti-Cats to come out firing against this Lions defense. Dane Evans played solid in his first start of the season last week, and I expect him to find his groove against the Lions. The Ti-Cats will be looking to get their first win under Evans, so I expect them to take this game very seriously in order to get back to their winning ways this season.

Play: Tiger-Cats -13.5
