CFL Week 16 Betting Picks 2018

After going 2-2 this past week my CFL spread picks for the season now sit at 27-16.  We had the Redblacks and Lions as home dogs, with both teams coming through and getting the outright wins in those games.  The Alouettes weren’t able to keep it close against the Bombers and the Roughriders won their game by 1, while we took them -3 in Toronto.

We didn’t get a turn out for the pick’em contest on our Instagram page this past week, so I think we will put that contest on hold for the time being.

I will be using the odds from SportsInteraction.com for my CFL picks throughout the season.  They are our top rated sportsbook for Canadians.  Check out our full SIA review here.

Toronto Argonauts @ Calgary Stampeders

  • Toronto +13
  • Calgary -13

Toronto played a solid game at home this past week, but still ended up losing by a point to the Roughriders.  Toronto is now definitely just playing for pride with their 3-9 record leaving their playoff hopes all but a dream at this point.

The Stampeders had a bye last week, but I expect them to build on their win in Hamilton from week 14 and continue to try to put together dominant performances as we head towards the playoffs.  It’s a big spread, but I like Calgary to cover at home.

Play: Stampeders -13

BC Lions @ Hamilton Tiger-Cats

  • BC +7
  • Hamilton -7

The Lions beat the Ti-Cats in overtime this past week at BC Place.  The two teams will complete the home and away series with a game in Hamilton this week.  The Lions were able to find their offense in the fourth quarter of this past weeks game to comeback and get the win.  I expect that confidence to continue into this game in Hamilton.

These are two evenly matched teams and I do not understand why the Ti-Cats are 7 point home favourites after failing to hold onto the win on the road this past week.  The Ti-Cats seem to be overrated by the oddsmakers over the past few weeks and I will look to take advantage of that while I can.

Play: Lions +7

Winnipeg Blue Bombers @ Edmonton Eskimos

  • Winnipeg +6.5
  • Edmonton -6.5

I’m going with the road dogs and taking the points in this one as well.  The Bombers played well against Montreal last week and the Alouettes team is no longer the pushover they were at the beginning of the season.  Winnipeg  was able to break a four game losing streak and they will need to build on that win with some another big effort this week.

I’ve said it all year.  The Eskimos are overrated.  They’ve scored fewer points than the Bombers and allowed more.  They’ve put together some nice home wins, but I’m just still not convinced this team deserves to be 6.5 point favorites against other solid West Division opposition.

Play: Blue Bombers +6.5

Saskatchewan Roughriders @ Montreal Alouettes

  • Saskatchewan -7.5
  • Montreal +7.5

Montreal has turned things around in recent weeks, but they’re still a very bad home team that has gone 1-7 against West Division opposition this season.  I believe the Roughriders are the second best team in the league and their offense has been very consistent of late.  If they can put up around 30 points in this game, I still don’t think the Johnny Manziel lead offense of the Alouettes will be able score more than 2 touchdowns max.

The Roughriders should win this game.  It could be a low scoring affair, which would make this 7.5 point spread difficult to cover, but I don’t expect much from the Alouettes offensively, so I’m still content taking the Riders in this one.

Play: Roughriders -7.5
