Belgium and Argentina both needed extra time to book their spot in the quarterfinals. The Belgians were obviously the superior team against the United States, but keeper Tim Howard kept the Americans in it and forced extra time. Luckily for the Belgians their relentless attacks eventually paid dividends and they booked a very deserved spot in the quarters. Argentina had a slightly more even match with Switzerland, but they too deserved to come through. It took until the 118th minute for Messi to set up di Maria for the goal that would win the game and send Argentina through.
I now think this will be a very interesting match. Belgium impressed me a lot against the United States and they definitely have the speed and skill to play with the Argentines.
Belgium vs Argentina Odds

I think this game could truly go either way. Both teams won each of their group stage matches and then won their round of 16 match in extra time. The undefeated records were expected from each of these teams however, as neither were in very strong groups. That said they both won each of their matches by a single goal and even with these victories there were still more naysayers than supporters after these wins.
Watching the Belgium vs USA game I really think that Belgium is coming together as a team at the right time. They absolutely dominated the United States and could have scored 5 or 6 goals if it wasn’t for Tim Howard having an unreal performance. Belgium had an unreal 27 shots on target and every time they touched the ball it seemed like they would generate a strong scoring chance. In the other game I didn’t see Argentina getting a ton of quality chances against Switzerland and I was actually expecting the game to go to penalties before the late goal from some lackadaisical defending from the Swiss at the end of the game.
This is supposed to be the start of a golden generation for Belgium and I am starting to believe this. A win over Argentina will solidify this claim.
I think Belgium has the quality and the attacking prowess to concern Argentina and win this game in regulation. At odds of 3.84 to win in regulation I think they are a good bet.
