2020 Super Bowl Spread Betting Pick

The Conference Championship games were very telling. The Chiefs and 49ers are the best two teams in the NFL this season, and both deserve to be playing in the Super Bowl. This became very telling watching the Chiefs continue to score on demand against the Titans, and the 49ers pulling away from the Packers.

I went 1-1 with my Conference Championship plays, which brings my playoff record to 3-3 in this years playoffs. It will come down to Super Bowl LIV as to whether or not I finish in the black during these playoffs.

The Super Bowl is still a couple weeks away, but I wanted to get my spread pick article up right away with the Conference Championship games fresh in my memory. I will also be adding an over/under pick, how to bet and guide and prop bets articles for the Super Bowl in the coming days.

I will be using SportsInteraction.com for the spread betting pick below. You can see our full Sports Interaction review here.

Kansas City Chiefs vs San Francisco 49ers

  • Kansas City -1.5
  • San Francisco +1.5

The Chiefs put forth another impressive effort on Sunday, defeating the Titans 35-24 to book their spot in the Super Bowl. The Chiefs once again got behind early, but it wasn’t the 24-0 deficit they faced vs the Texans the week prior. The Titans went up 10-0 and then Mahomes and company kicked it into high gear before leading by half time. It seems like Andy Reid and the Chiefs offense takes a few series to figure out what is going to work and then they can basically score on demand.

The 49ers took a 27-0 lead heading to half time vs the Packers and then cruised from there. Mostert had a huge game running for 220 yards and 4 touchdowns on the ground. Coleman got injured, but could be back for the Super Bowl. Jimmy Garroppolo didn’t have to do much in this game with the 49ers running all over the Packers, but he has shown in the past that he’s capable of performing when required.

I think this is a tight game between two teams with high powered offenses that can score in bunches. Both teams have capable defenses, but I think the 49ers are better in that area. I do think that the Chiefs inability to score points early in the game could be a problem vs the 49ers. San Francisco is a terrific team playing with the lead and I do not think Mahomes will be able to pick apart this defense quite as easily as he did against the Texans or Titans.

If the 49ers can get up by 10+ in the first quarter, I don’t think the Chiefs will be able to charge back into the game as easily as they did against the Texans or Titans. The 49ers will continue to put up points with the lead, and they won’t allow the Chiefs to put up a ton of unanswered touchdowns, which is what seems to happen a lot of Kansas City wins.

I’m going with the 49ers +1.5 in this one. I think they have the more complete team. They can win shootouts or defensive battles. This is a team that has a lot of ways to win and I think that will show through in this game vs the Chiefs.

Play: 49ers +1.5
