David Hearn came so close last week to becoming the first Canadian since Pat Fletcher in 1954 to win the Canadian Open, but it wasn’t meant to be. Jason Day had a great final three holes to win the Canadian Open. Last week I gave you four players to key on in your DraftKings lineups and Bubba Watson and Ollie Schniederjans ended up being very solid picks. Steve Stricker played four rounds so you can’t be upset with that, but Kevin Chappell blew up on several holes for only 20 DraftKings points after being cut before the weekend. Chappell was my most used player throughout my lineups, so even though I still had a few lineups do well, you can’t win a contest with cut players.
It’s now a new week with the Quicken Loans Invitational. A fresh start on a course (Robert Trent Jones Golf Club) that hasn’t seen a lot of professional action since it’s days as the host of the President’s Cup. The field isn’t the strongest we’ve seen on the PGA Tour, but Justin Rose, Rickie Fowler and Jimmy Walker will headline this tournament as the early favourites.
DraftKings.com is running a $350K contest with a $3 entry fee and $100,000 to first place, and also a $20 entry fee contest with $200k in prizes. It’s not quite the Millionaire Maker, but these are still big exciting contests. Click here to enter.
Now on to my top 4 plays…..
Justin Rose $12200, Rickie Fowler $11700, Jimmy Walker $11000
The three big guns are by far the three most expensive players on DraftKings this week and I’m including them as a lump because I think that you need to have one of these guys in an optimal lineup. You have to think that at least one of these guys will be in one of the final 2 or 3 groups come Sunday, which means they should be on your lineup. I’m personally sprinkling the three of them between all of my lineups this week because I can’t decide on which one will be most likely to raise the trophy at the end of Sunday.
Bill Haas $9200
Bill Haas is good value for his price this week. He has odds of 33/1 at SportsInteraction.com to win the tournament, which has him set as the 5th favourite, while his price is the 7th most expensive at DraftKings. Yes, he’s been cut in his last 3 events, but the US Open and British Open did not fit his game, while this golf course very well could.
Jason Bohn $8100
Bohn is my favourite play this week at $8100. SportsInteraction.com has him at 40/1 to win this tournament, which shows just how awesome getting him for $8100 is. He didn’t play in the US or British Open so his game is still tailored to the North American style of course, which this will be. He’s coming off of 2 top 15 performances and I think he has to be on several of your teams this week.
Charles Howell III $6500
He’s 100/1 at SportsInteraction.com, which I think is actually a very good bet as well as him being a great low priced play that can allow you to pick one of the big four. He’s another guy who did not play in either the US or British Open and I think that he may be ready to break through. He’s made the cut in 18 of the 25 events he’s played this season, which is also a great number for a player at this price.

Ollie Schniederjans 80/1
This is my top bet for this week’s tournament. Schniederjans has been playing some great golf and I think he’s ready to break through in his second professional outing. He’s $7700 at DraftKings and I have him on several of my lineups, but I think his odds of 80/1 at SportsInteraction.com are a great opportunity for bettors as well.
