UFC Fight Night: Blachowicz vs Santos Betting Picks

The UFC is continuing their busy schedule this week with a Fight Night event in Prague, Czech Republic. This card takes place this Saturday and it will be a matinee here in Canada, with the prelims starting at 11am EST and the main card getting underway at 2pm EST. I personally love these afternoon cards.

Last week I went 3-1 for +2.49 units on the Ngannou vs Velasquez card, so I’m looking to follow that up with another profit week of UFC betting.

Jan Blachowicz vs Thiago Santos

Santos has looked great since moving up to light heavyweight, winning two exciting, hard-fought battles with Eryk Anders and Jimi Manuwa in firefights. It’s obvious that his chin is far better at 205 pounds, which was his biggest weakness earlier in this career.

That said, Blachowicz isn’t known for his knockout power, so the improved chin of Santos may not come into play in this fight. Blachowicz instead uses a suffocating style that involves a lot of pressure and clinch work. He’s shown tremendous cardio and heart on his 4 fight winning streak and I think this style could pay dividends against Santos.

Blachowicz’s striking has improved tremendously, and he hasn’t been knocked out in his UFC career. I think a KO is Santos’ best path to victory and I don’t see it happening.

I like Blachowicz to pressure for the full 15 minutes and rack up plenty of significant strikes on his way to the win.

Play: Blachowicz 1.91

John Dodson vs Petr Yan

Petr Yan is an exciting prospect, but this is a big step up in competition against John Dodson. Yan is an explosive striker and Dodson has a way of slowing fights down and making them really close.

Dodson is only 3-4 in his last 7 UFC fights, but all losses have been via decision. He really doesn’t take a lot of damage, and I don’t think Yan is going to be able to land the KO blow.

I’m expecting this to be yet another very close decision, likely a split. If Dodson increases his output from previous fights I think he has a real chance of getting the win. And let’s not forget that Dodson also has big power in his hands for a smaller fighter.

This is a dog or pass situation and at odds of 3.25 against a relatively unproven top prospect, I’m happy with taking Dodson.

Play: Dodson 3.25

Damir Hadzovic vs Marco Polo Reyes

I don’t know much about Damir Hadzovic, but I was impressed with Polo Reyes in his last fight and I think he gets the win in this fight.

Polo Reyes comes forward and brings the fight. He’s also much better than his 8-4 record indicates.

Play: Polo Reyes 1.87
