It’s fight day! Jake Paul will fight former heavyweight champion, Anthony Joshua this evening (Friday, December 19th) at the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida. The event will be broadcast for free on Netflix.
Jake Paul was originally expected to fight Gervonta Davis in an exhibition bout on November 14th, but some legal trouble for Davis resulted in the fight being scrapped and Paul looking for a new opponent for a December fight. A deal was able to be reached with Anthony Joshua and we will now see Jake Paul face his toughest opponent yet.
The fight with Joshua will be a professional fight with 8 3-minute rounds and 10oz gloves will be used. The weight limit was 245 pounds with both fighters making weight. Anthony Joshua weighed in at 243.4 pounds, while Jake Paul weighed in at 216.6 pounds.

My Thoughts On The Fight
As someone who has followed and reported on influencer boxing betting since the first Logan Paul vs KSI event back in 2018 really launched the YouTuber boxing scene, this Jake Paul vs Anthony Joshua fight is very interesting. Jake Paul has progressed from a sloppy TKO victory over KSI’s brother, Deji, in August of 2018, to now fighting Anthony Joshua, who was the heavyweight champion at that time. Joshua has had some setbacks in recent years, but he’s still considered one of the top 5 heavyweight boxers in the world, so the fact that Jake Paul has progressed from what many would call a gimmick fighter, to now facing an elite heavyweight in a professional boxing match is quite impressive.
With these type of fights I always follow the money and look at the fighters motivations for taking the fight and what result will set both fighters up for more huge prize fights in the future. In this fight, Jake Paul really has nothing to lose facing Anthony Joshua. He’s expected to lose and just the fact that he’s getting in the ring with a dangerous heavyweight fighter, only a few years removed from his prime, will gain Paul a lot of respect regardless of the outcome. Even with a loss, Paul will still have a huge selection of potential massive opponents for future prize fights. Potential opponents like Francis Ngannou, Ryan Garcia, Terence Crawford, or Canelo Alvarez, should still be on the table even after a loss to Joshua. On the flip side, Anthony Joshua absolutely has to win this fight in order for his potential fight with Tyson Fury to have the same traction, and a loss would surely mean he would be far removed from another potential title shot. Joshua’s motivation for taking this fight is a huge payday with limited risk, but a loss could be catastrophic for his career. For all of the above reasons, I do think Joshua should win this fight. With a Joshua win there’s really no losers. A late Joshua TKO would probably be the best case scenario for both fighters in terms of potential future earnings.
That said, I fully expect Jake Paul to go out there and try his best to win. If you think Paul has a chance I would suggest using bonus bets if possible because the odds are long enough to where bonus bets use are good value.
Regardless of the outcome, it should be a fun event to watch on Netflix this evening.
