The Woodbine Mile (event details) is set to take place this Saturday evening at Woodbine Racetrack in Toronto. This is a huge race this year with a lot on the line. Of course there is the $1,000,000 purse, but you also have to factor in the fact that the Woodbine Mile is part of the Breeders’ Cup Challenge Series and the tagline for the race is “Win and You’re In”. So needless to say there is a lot of pressure on these horses to perform in order to claim the first place prize and a berth in the Breeders’ Cup Mile in November.
The bookies have Raging Bull as the 2-1 favourite heading into Saturday, but there are plenty of quality horses in this field, including Set Piece at 5-2, Ride a Comet at 5-1 and March to the Arch at 8-1.
The Woodbine Mile will be broadcast this year on TSN with an hour of coverage for the race between 5:30 and 6:30pm EST. The post time is at 6:12pm, so be sure to tune in to TSN in the early evening to catch the race.

2021 Woodbine Mile Morning Line Odds
Here are the morning line odds and post positions for the Woodbine Mile. I should mention that the odds for horse racing are not fixed, which means they will change throughout race day as bets come in the various horses in the race. Check out our parimutuel betting page for more information about how the betting works in horse racing.
- Town Cruise 20-1
- Olympic Runner 10-1
- March to the Arch 8-1
- Ride a Comet 5-1
- Set Piece 5-2
- Change of Control 20-1
- Raging Bull 2-1
- Avie’s Flatter 15-1
- Duke of Hazzard 15-1
- Space Traveller 12-1
As you can see Raging Bull is the favourite heading into the race, but Set Piece is also right there with just slightly longer morning line odds. Ride a Comet, March to the Arch, and Olympic Runner are also horses that could win without shocking anyone.
War of Will is an accomplished horse who won the Maker’s Mark Mile race at the beginning of the season, defeating Ride a Comet in that race, but he’s failed to win his other two starts this year.
Set Piece had won three straight races between April and June of this year, before finishing second in the Fourstardave Handicap last month. That said, he did still defeat Raging Bull, who finished 6th, in that race.
My dark horse play is Olympic Runner at 10-1. He’s coming off a win at the King Edward last month, that saw him defeat Town Cruise, March to the Arch and Avie’s Flatter in a very fast race at Woodbine.
