NFL Week 16 DraftKings QB + Receiver Stacks

I struck out with my stacks from week 15.  Rivers and Kaepernick both had very average games, while Bortles had one of the worst games of the season.  This week I’m looking to get back on track with some solid stacks that you can build a team around.

All of the prices I’m using are from and the stacks are for PPR leagues, which is the scoring method used at DK.

Drew Brees ($7400) + Michael Thomas ($6000)

Brees had a monster game last week for 33.36 DK points on the road in Arizona.  That game was after two very tough games for Brees, including a tough road game in Tampa Bay in week 14 where Brees only scored 7.48 DK points.  Brees gets his chance for a little bit of revenge this week at the Superdome, where we all know Brees plays his best.  The Bucs defense has been on fire of late having not allowed over 300 passing yards since week 9 against the Falcons.

Even at home this is a tough matchup for Brees, but I think he’s a gamer with the ability to make good defenses look bad when playing at the Superdome.

My favourite pairing for Brees is Michael Thomas at $6000.

Matt Barkley ($5000) + Alshon Jeffery ($6300)

Barkley showed last week that he has the ability to go deep for big plays.  He threw for 362 yards while playing catch up against the Packers and although he through 3 interceptions he still showed a lot of grit by continuing to connect for deep throws late, which allowed him to also score 2 TD’s.  If he can clean up those interceptions Barkley has the ability to have a very big game.

The Redskins are ranked 29th in the league against opposing quarterbacks and if they get a lead in this game the Bears will turn to Barkley to throw the ball.

Alshon Jeffery is still under priced at $6300 and I also like Cameron Meredith’s value at $4700.  If this game has good weather it could be a shootout.

Blake Bortles ($5000) + Allen Robinson ($4600) or Marqise Lee ($4300)

Bortles had an awful week 15, but I’m still going right back to him in a great spot against the Titans defense that is 30th in the league against opposing QB’s and 32nd in the league against opposing wide receivers.  Bortles does have the ability to play well and although we haven’t seen it much this season he has shown the ability to score a decent number of DK points even when he’s playing poorly.

I probably prefer a stack with Marqise Lee because he’s surpassed Allen Robinson as the #1 option in the Jags passing game, but I also don’t mind Robinson.  You could even take both of them and hope for a monster Bortles game with the double stack.

It’s a strange week where I think a lot of the top QB’s are in spots that look good, but feel like traps to me.  Paying down at QB this week will already start your roster construction in a different direction than most players, which should already give you a leg up if one of these low priced QB’s does happen to go off.
