Last week I hit 2 for 3 with my QBs, but unfortunately the Brian Hoyer and DeAndre Hopkins stack, which was my most used by far, was a bust. Hoyer threw a quick 2 TD’s against the weak Saints defense, but then the Texans largely sat on the lead. It also didn’t help that Hopkins had his worse week of the year in the juiciest matchup he’s seen.
Wilson (38.2 fantasy points) and Roethlisberger (27.04 fantasy points) both went off for big games, but the players I stacked with them weren’t the ones I needed. I didn’t take Doug Baldin and he went off for a ridiculous 41.5 points, while Graham, my main stack, was injured. On the other side Antonio Brown was pretty ineffective against Richard Sherman. Now on to week 13.
Check out the week 13 running back targets post as well.
Tom Brady ($8000) + Danny Amendola ($4,700) or Scott Chandler ($2,500)
Brady was pissed off after last weeks loss to the Broncos. An angry Tom Brady is a motivated Tom Brady and against a Eagles defense that’s given up massive 45 points against in both of the last two weeks I think this is a great spot for Brady to have a huge game, even without most of his weapons.
I like stacking Brady with Danny Amendola, who is expected to return from injury. His price is up to $4700, but if he can stay healthy for the entire game you can expect him to easily pay off his price because he will surely be Brady’s favourite target. The other stack I like here is Scott Chandler at tight end. He’s min priced and with Gronk out he will be getting a lot more throws. Last week he put up 16.8 fantasy points and that was with Gronkowski in for the majority of the game. He will be a favourite target again with the Pats offense still crippled.
Cam Newton ($7,400) + Greg Olsen ($6,400)
This is my prediction to be the highest owned stack of the week by far, but I can’t leave these guys out of this article. The Saints defense is just brutal and the Panthers have shown they are willing to keep throwing the ball and running up the score this season, which is what we need in daily fantasy. Olsen is Cam’s favourite target and really his only high end weapon. Add this to the fact that the Saints are awful against opposing tight ends and this is the optimal chalk play.
Blaine Gabbert ($5,000) + Anquan Boldin ($4,100)
Gabbert and company are my low ownership flyer this week. Blaine went off for 318 yards last week against the Cardinals formidable defense and I think his confidence is really growing now that he has 3 games under his belt. If the 49ers get behind in this game, which I expect them to, Gabbert could be throwing the ball a lot in the second half. At minimum price and against a Bears defense that as the 10th ranked against the QB is likely overrated in that respect, I think Gabbert could be a steal low owned. I like stacking with either Boldin with him because he’s by far the most high volume receiver on the team. This is not a cash game play, but I think it’s a fairly sneaky GPP play.
I also like Cutler on the other side of this game, but I think he will be quite a bit higher owned than Gabbert and I think they both have a fairly equal shot at a big game.
So there you have it. Two chalk plays that I think should have big games and one sneaky play that I will be tossing into some GPP’s.
