The 2022 Pegasus World Cup (official website) takes place this Saturday, January 29th at Gulfstream Park in Florida. This years prize pool has remained at $3 million with no entry fee. The Pegasus World Cup is no longer the richest horse race in the world like it was in 2017 & 2018, but it’s still a prestigious race with a large purse that will entice the top horses in the world to participate.
Defending champion, Knicks Go, will compete in this years race and he will enter the race as one of the favourites, along with Life Is Good. Knicks Go is coming off a win in the Breeders’ Cup Classic, while Life Is Good won last years Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile. The Pegasus World Cup will be the first time these elite horses compete in the same race.
This is a massive race that brings eyes back to horse racing a few months after the Breeders’ Cup. I know a lot of people are excited to get back to betting on horses this season. Below I’ve outlined the early odds for the race and also provided a quick 3 step guide for Canadians to get your Pegasus World Cup bets in this year.
2022 Pegasus World Cup Betting Odds
Here are the odds for the race (and post positions) taken from one of our top rated betting sites for Canadians:
- Knicks Go 2.25
- Chess Chief 17.00
- Stilleto Boy 26.00
- Life Is Good 2.35
- Empty Tomb 26.00
- Sir Winston 15.00
- Title Ready 26.00
- Endorsed 26.00
- Commandeer 34.00
I personally like Knicks Go to win the race at odds of 2.25. He’s the most accomplished race in the field, and he had great form to finish the 2021 season, winning his most recent four races, including the Breeders’ Cup Classic. Life Is Good should bring quality competition, but he has never ran as long as the Pegasus World Cup (1 1/8 miles), so I think Knicks Go should have more in the tank coming down the stretch.
Here’s a replay of the 2021 Breeders’ Cup Classic, which shows Knicks Go pulling away from his competition down the stretch:
