NHL Betting Picks February 18th

It’s a fun slate of NHL games today, including three all-Canadian match-ups with the Sens in Toronto, the Jets in Montreal and the Flames heading to Vancouver.  I actually have 4 picks for tonight’s slate of games.  It’s very rare that I find this much value in one night. Check them out below.

I will be using the odds from whichever one of our recommended betting sites has the best odds for the outcome I expect.

St. Louis Blues @ Buffalo Sabres

The Blues have really stepped up under Mike Yeo and the team as a whole has played tremendously defensively on their current 6 game winning streak.  Their most recent game, against the Canucks, was the first time they allowed more than 2 goals in that span with 3 goals against.  They also have 3 shutouts over those 6 games and having Martin Brodeur as a goaltender coach who selects the goaltender each night has paid dividends.

The Blues were always a great team, they just weren’t responding this season until the coaching change.  Because of this I don’t hold their 13-13-1 road record against them and I fully expect them to outclass a Sabres team that is actually playing some solid hockey of late themselves.

Play: Blues 1.86

Ottawa Senators @ Toronto Maple Leafs

The Leafs will be without Mitch Marner for a couple games and that is definitely a hole this team will have to fill in terms of his creativity on that Bozak-JVR line.  The Leafs have stumbled of late, losing 3 of their last 4 games with the one win coming via a 7-1 routing of the Islanders.  Young teams can be inconsistent throughout the season and sometimes slow down in the latter part of the year.  This could be what is happening with Toronto now and I expect the Senators, who have been playing extremely well defensively, to take advantage and get the W in Toronto tonight.

Play: Senators 2.20

San Jose Sharks @ Arizona Coyotes

The Coyotes are not as bad as their record states and when I see them as massive dogs at home I have to back them.  The Coyotes have won 3 of their last 4, including 2 of 3 on a tough road trip.  They head back home tonight against a Sharks team that they beat in San Jose in OT exactly two weeks previous.

The Sharks have lost 5 of their last 6 games and are having a lot of difficulty keeping the puck out of their net.  These teams are trending in opposite directions and I think the sharp money is definitely on the Coyotes in this spot.

Play: Coyotes 2.55

Calgary Flames @ Vancouver Canucks

The Canucks are team that I generally have no trouble picking as a home underdog.  They are 17-8-3 at home this season.  Yes, they are on a 2 game losing streak, but those games were at the tail end of a road trip against the Blues and Penguins, arguably the two hottest teams in the league at the moment.  The Canucks will be ready to put the road trip behind them and get to work picking up points to stay in the playoff race.

This is a massive game and I expect the Canucks to be ready.  Add in the fact that the two top weapons on the Flames, Gaudreau and Monahan do no perform well on the road and I think the Canucks are in a great spot here.

Play: Canucks 2.15
