New York Islanders @ Toronto Maple Leafs

This is a massive game in the Eastern Conference.  The Islanders have been creeping their way up the standings of late going 6-2-2 in their last ten and now sit just 1 point out of the last wild card spot, which is currently occupied by the Toronto Maple Leafs.  Each team has played 54 games as well, so these teams are definitely in a race.

As I said before, the Isles are playing some great hockey and the top line of Tavares-Lee-Bailey has been playing very well of late.  They have 33 combined points over the past 10 games and I do expect them to have another big game against a Leafs team that has given up 28 goals over the past 7 games.

The Isles are rolling and I think they are the better overall team than the Leafs.  They are finding their game and although they have struggled on the road this season I think this is a good spot for them heading to TO against a team that has had issues of late.

Play: Islanders 2.25 @ SportsInteraction.com

Colorado Avalanche @ New Jersey Devils

The Avs are simply awful.  After getting on a rare two game winning streak last week, they have lost their most recent three games by a combined score of 13-4.  The team has absolutely no defensive identity and they are having a surprisingly difficult time scoring this season even with plenty of young talent still on the team.

The Devils are by no means the cream of the crop in the NHL, but they still have an outside chance at the playoffs and they cannot afford to take teams like the Avalanche lightly if they hope to move up the standings.

Schneider has played better over the past few games after struggling at times through the season and I expect him to add another win and a high save percentage to his stats tonight against an Avs team that can’t get anything right this year.

Play: Devils 1.54
