2018 Pegasus World Cup Betting Odds + How To Bet Guide for Canadians

The 2018 Pegasus World Cup (official website) takes place this coming Saturday at Gulfstream Park in Florida and once again the top horses in the world will be in attendance to attempt to win their portion of the $16 million prize pool.  That’s right, the Pegasus World Cup has actually increased the purse from $12M to $16M this year and will once again be a record-setting amount for a horse race worldwide.

Unfortunately, defending champion Arrogate retired from racing after a sub par finish to the 2018 season.  That said, there is actually an even bigger favourite this year with Gun Runner coming into the race as an overwhelming favourite at odds of 1.67, after his win at the Breeders Cup Classic in November.

This race will quickly go down in history with the winner taking down the largest purse in history (at least until this years Dubai World Cup) and I know a lot of people are excited to get back to betting on horses this season.  Below I’ve outlined the early odds for the race and also provided a quick 3 step guide for Canadians to get your Pegasus World Cup bets in this year.

2018 Pegasus World Cup Betting Odds

Here are the odds for the race taken from Bodog.eu, one of our top rated betting sites for Canadians:

As you can see Gun Runner is a massive favourite heading into the race.  West Coast, Collected and Sharp Azteca are the only other horses with under 10/1 odds of winning the race.

I personally like Gun Runner to win, but I’m not sure if there is value on him at these odds.

Here’s a replay of the 2017 Breeders’ Cup Classic, which shows Gun Runner, West Coast and Collected battling it out down the stretch:

How To Bet On The Pegasus World Cup From Canada

Step 1. Open an Online Sportsbook Account

First you’ll need to open an account with a betting site that is taking bets on the Pegasus World Cup.  I recommend Bodog.eu for Pegasus World Cup betting.  Their racebook is extremely clean, simple and easy to use, and they already have futures lines available for this inaugural Pegasus World Cup.

Bodog exclusively accepts Canadian residents, which allows them to completely customize their sportsbook and overall betting experience to cater to the Canadian sports bettor.  They are offering a 100% up to $200 bonus for new Canadian sign ups, which will give your bankroll a nice boost for betting on the Pegasus World Cup.  Here’s our full Bodog review.

Step 2. Deposit Funds

After opening your account you will have to make a deposit in order to add some funds with which to place your Pegasus World Cup wagers.  I suggest taking full advantage of the $200 bonus if possible.  The Bodog bonus is very easy to clear and you won’t find them offering reload bonuses very often, so it’s smart to get that bonus money when you can.

Bodog currently accepts Visa, MasterCard and Bitcoin deposits.  You can check out our deposit information page to learn more about each of these banking options.

Step 3. Place Your Pegasus World Cup Bets

It’s now time to place your bets!  If you’re planning to place your bets prior to race day you can do so using the fixed betting odds found in the Bodog sportsbook section.  Once at the Bodog website select ‘Sports’ from the left sidebar and then select ‘Horse Racing Futures and Props’ under the ‘All Sports’ drop down menu.  You will then be able to see the ‘2018 Pegasus World Cup’ odds a few races down the page.

Race Day Betting

If you’re betting on the Pegasus World Cup on race day then you should head over to the ‘Horses’ section of the Bodog website.  Once there select ‘Gulstream Park’ from the ‘Today’s Tracks’ menu and this will bring up the Pegasus World Cup race.

**It’s important to remember that bets placed on race day in the Horses section are using the parimutuel betting system, so the odds are subject to change depending on the amount of money wagered on each horse.

If you’re new to betting on horse racing definitely check out our horse racing section that is filled with some great articles to get you started.
