The Sabres gave up a late goal to the Oilers last night to cost us my lone play of the day. The Oilers actually dominated the game though, which shows just how bad the Sabres truly are this season.

Pittsburgh Penguins @ Buffalo Sabres
The Sabres have done decently well of late to keep the scores of their games more respectable, losing only 1 of their last 5 by more than a goal, but the fact still remains they’ve only won 1 of their last 6 games (shootout) and the loss by more than a goal was a 5-0 loss to the Penguins. The Sabres are on the second of back to backs tonight against a very powerful offensive force in Pittsburgh. I like the Pens puck line in this one.

Minnesota Wild @ Montreal Canadiens
To say the Habs have not been very good of late may be an understatement. They needed a shootout to break their 3 game losing skid against the Sabres of all teams on Wednesday night. The Wild, even without Parise, will be a much stiffer test tonight. I like Minnesota as small underdogs in this one.

Carolina Hurricanes @ Washington Capitals
I’m very surprised to say that the ‘Canes are on a 4 game winning streak. They’ve beaten Columbus twice in the past week and also beat the Coyotes and Kings in this streak to really turn their season around. Eric Staal truly is a huge part of this team, even when he’s not producing like he could. The Caps stopped a 5 game skid with a win over the Blackhawks last night and they are surely feeling good about themselves. That said the momentum of the ‘Canes cannot be overlooked when they are such big underdogs heading into the game.

New York Islanders @ Arizona Coyotes
I think the Islanders high paced offensive style gives them a little more credit in the eyes of bettors than maybe it should. I’m surprised to see the Isles as favourites heading into Glendale to face a Coyotes team that has won 3 straight including a big win over the NHL leading Ducks last night. The Coyotes are finally getting their team game together and will be very tough for the Islanders tonight.
