After taking yesterday off from making picks, we’re back today with a couple plays on this Monday night. On Saturday my picks went 2-2, but with the Sabres win the night was a success due to them being such big dogs.

Minnesota Wild @ Florida Panthers
The Wild have been letting me down a lot lately when I’m betting on them, but I still can’t shake the fact that I really like this team. They’re sitting outside of the playoffs right now, but I still think this is a legitimate Stanley Cup contender. I’m going to continue to back them, especially against weak teams such as the Panthers. The Wild haven’t been great on the road this year, but I think they will start to turn that around with a win in Florida.

Ottawa Senators @ Detroit Red Wings
The Sens haven’t been playing their best hockey of late, but they aren’t getting blown out in any games and a bounce here or there could have really changed their last 8 game span where they have gone 2-4-2. The Sens beat the Red Wings at the beginning of the month at home, but it will be a different test on the road in Detroit. It is the first game of the road trip for the Sens, so fatigue shouldn’t be a factor.
The Red Wings are just heading back home after a 3 game road trip, which sometimes results in a lull. The Wings haven’t been overly great so far this year and I think they are simply an average team. I’m surprised the Sens are such big dogs in this one, so I like them with the good return.
