2021 Canadian International Betting Odds and How To Bet Guide

By Horse Racing

The Canadian International Stakes (official race info) is moving to September this year to join the Woodbine Mile this Saturday September 18th, for what will be one of the biggest days of the racing season at Woodbine Racetrack in Toronto.  The race doesn’t have the strongest field this year, but viewers will get to see Walton Street, Desert Encounter and Corelli, a few solid horses, battle it for their share of the the $600,000 purse.

There are 8 horses set to compete in this years Canadian International.  Walton Street is the favourite heading into the race at odds of 8-5, while Desert Encounter, the winner of the last two Canadian International races (2018 & 2019), is the second favourite at odds of 3-1.

The Canadian International will be broadcast on TSN1 and TSN3 from 5:30-6:30pm EST this Saturday.

2021 Canadian International Stakes Morning Line Odds

Below I’ve outlined the morning line odds for the Canadian International.  I should note that the odds are not fixed and can change throughout the day depending on the bets that come in on the horses on race day.  Learn more about how this works on our parimutuel betting page.

  • Walton Street 8-5
  • Desert Encounter 3-1
  • Corelli 4-1
  • Belichick 6-1
  • Fantasioso 8-1
  • Bluegrass Parkway 10-1
  • English Conqueror 15-1
  • Primo Touch 20-1

Walton Street is the favourite heading into the race at odds of 8-5. He’s won 2 of the 4 races he’s competed in this year and has completely focused in on these 1.5 mile races throughout his career. This will be his first time competing in the Canadian International.

Desert Encounter won the last two Canadian International races (2018 & 2019) so he cannot be overlooked as the second favourite. That said, he’s not won a race since his last Canadian International Stakes victory in October of 2019, having raced in 15 races in that span. At 9 years old his best races may be behind him, and even though he’s the two time defending champion, last years race being cancelled makes the defending champ title mean less this year as it’s two years removed.

The horse I will be betting to win this week is Walton Street. He’s the favourite for a reason, as he’s used to competing (and winning) against quality fields. He’s also become a 1.5 mile specialist and should have the experience to find a way to get the win however the race shakes out.  Here’s the video of the Walton Street setting a track record in a win earlier this year in the Dubai City of Gold race:
